A message from the TARA Club President

What's Happening

Good day and greetings to all. It has been a both challenging and progressive 2022. Relentless dedication from our officers and senior members has not gone unnoticed, I appreciate how committed we all have been to our primary purpose. Activities continue to take place with consistent commitment; however, we are in a catch up to no end with a whole new outlook. We understand and fully acknowledge, that TARA is not what it once was.

We are now in an era where the newcomer is property of the state, possessing little freedom or direction to lead them towards recovery. In my 30 years’ experience in the program, sponsorship is imperative for everyone. No-one can afford to be idle in this program, meeting makers make it! We have seen a record number of newcomers and relapses. Groups no longer have the attendance and financial support; this has affected us tremendously.

Us, the south side, yes, the side where the gap is far and few of groups in touch with the intense suffrage, we are the beacon of light for everyone that walks through our doors. TARA maintains with anointed hands at this point. We are seeking funding that can justify a building manager, building upgrades and coding that put us in a legitimate working condition. Automated announcements from our latest monitor in the kitchen is our newest tool to keep more people informed. Continued answering of the telephone, texting system, and periodically updated with resources only God could have sent.

It is imperative that we make an action plan to reunite members, groups, and newcomers. From the TARA Club business point of view, with less cooperatives from the structural of AA we must keep seek ways in which we can support our goals and objectives monetarily. We could not make it without the generosity of all participants, whether it is funding or time.

We appreciate you all. Thank You!!!!

In summation for 2023, my goals along with the blessings of you all is to create,

innovate, find substantial funding, and build a stronger team of committed individuals who see the vision of recovery deserved from the milestone establishment we call the TARA Clubhouse.

Be well and stay safe, John H. Russell  III
